Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down!
I wonder if this cute critter could have been an inspiration for the Bile Demon from Dungeon Keeper or the Oracle Envoy from Elden Ring.

Tibby Wobnobbin, a character from the 2005 Weebles cartoon, first appeared in the Weebleville Town Center playset.
Notice how Tibby's fingers are square and stubby in the toy, more like a real elephant, and much slimmer in the cartoon. Imagine what it would have looked like if Tibby had held things with her trunk instead.

PoisonInThePen, a user of another SNS, posted a generative picture of toys on a table. I wondered what it'd look like without AI. So I got out my Weebles Storybook World toys (and a random plushie from another toy line) to find out!

Mr. Cow explains in 19 minutes why Comedy Central's Fairview (2022) sucked: surface-level takes on issues with episodes ending like a kids' show, cookie-cutter faces with undetailed hands, and loud-mouthed, grating voice acting. One thing he doesn't mention is that the script doesn't acknowledge the characters' lack of legs in the slightest.
Just rewatch Weebles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_Tx4-utjvU
I'm making a video codec that uses Color Cell Compression, the predecessor of S3TC. A clip can have 16 colors, and each 4x4-pixel block usea two of them. I aim to play FMV on Mega Drive and Game Boy Advance.
It codes 256x144 pixel 12 fps animation at 25 to 42 kB/s depending on motion. Live action is 62.5 kB/s. Fits Sega CD bitrate, not so much Genesis or GBA cartridge yet. I still see room for byte savings.
Curious? Get the source code https://github.com/pinobatch/color-cell-compression

See these captions in Weebles: Welcome to Weebleville? They aren't the VOB subtitles on most DVDs. They're line 21 closed captions. You can see them through composite out on post-1993 TVs.
Most Blu-ray Disc players don't show them on HDMI. This is an accessibility failure on player makers' part.
Technology Connections released a 33-minute video titled "Closed captions on DVDs are getting left behind" about BD players' inability to render EIA-608 captions while upscaling.

@jennzycos Sometimes "the gibbering macaques" are in government, like in December 2019 when the US Federal Trade Commission asserted #COPPA and made YouTube yank cartoons' comment sections.
Now what's a good place to find other adult fans of a particular cartoon? There's one series that no one on the fediverse but myself seems to ever post about: #Weebles
They See Your Photos, a demo of the Google Vision API, looks like a promising tool to generate alt text. I tried it on a still from an episode of Weebles, an obscure CGI animated series from 2005. Compare their alt text to my own.
