A message from the #WeatherGods developer of interest to those who run the app.
"Weather Gods (Scott), 6 August, 2025

Hi,
I have a very serious issue associated with the Weather Gods 4.8.5. It seems to have caused the App, Widget or Watch to repeatedly call for weather data - in some cases every 4 minutes. This has resulted in a very large weather data bill which I will have to pay.
I have an update 4.8.6 which is on the App Store and I am hoping I have identified the rogue part of the app - not 100% as I have received no crash or hang reports from Apple.
Please can everyone update the app and also let anyone else know who might be using 4.8.5 and ask them to update.
Really hoping my fix works, otherwise I'm at a bit of a loss - in more ways than one.
Appreciate the help in spreading the word.
Thank you
Scott"

@steve That's why I like having diferent sounds for things when possible. Thank you #WeatherGods for having a unique sound for severe alerts as does #AccuWeather.
Many who know me know that I have a thing for #WeatherApps. I have many for various reasons. For instance, the #StormShieldApp for #iOS I have solely for its lightning alerts which cost $0.99 a month. They were reliable and thus I kept the app even though it was by and large an #Inaccessible mess when using #VoiceOver. However, now the price is about to rise to $4.99 a month and they gave users or at least this user less than a month's notice. So it's buh bye to this one. It makes me even more grateful to the developer of #WeatherGods not only for his implementation and offering of a subscription that includes Lightning alerts but also for his commitment to #Accessibility throughout the whole of his app. So, if lightning alerts are important to you, you might wish to consider supporting Weather Gods and its developer. I have no afiliation beyond being a happy user.
@technocounselor @JamiePauls No nor are mine here. In fact on a related note: now that the #WeatherGods has NOAA radio streams I was excited until I found that no one is streaming mine as all streams are personally maintained none are official from the government.

Hey #BikeTooter My friend and I completed the RRtY #Audax challenge this year and, in doing so, inadvertantly became #WeatherGods.

Summary of the year, with links to all 12 individual ride reports (detailing our burgeoning realisation of our meteorlogical status) here: https://ridewithgps.com/ride_reports/10832-rrty-2024

RRtY 2024

In 2024 two lads, from the flatlands of East Anglia, attempted their first Audax UK 'Randoneur Round the Year' (RRtY) Award. This is a summary of the rides, with some stats and reflections to try and capture some of the highs and lows from along the way.

Well, an update on my post about #WeatherGods lightning alerts from yesterday. I asked the developer if we could have more granular and thus smaller radius choices for lightning and it, along with the return of frost alerts should appear in the next beta update for testing and as such forth coming in the next candidate release. #AskAndYouShallReceive
@JeffBishop @DebbieHazelton Which weather app do I not use hahahahaha. My favorite is #WeatherGods I also like Stormshield for lightning alerts and the weather channel and the native weather app for realtime precip alerts.
One nearby weather station I monitor in the #Weathergods app just lost power. I switched to one even closer and the temperature is up to 58 degrees. Rain and wind have intensified.

It's gambling with the weather gods, but we are mowing the hay today.
It's supposed to not rain for a few days.

Hear that gods!
