Just entered my first Audax UK Brevet of the year, seems like an impossible task at the moment given everything in my life but if I don’t enter definitely it won’t be possible!
One of the nice things about Audax UK events is if you enter and don’t start you don’t lose too much money and the organiser gets a little donation.

Mon premier BRM #vélo aujourd'hui (il était temps), à l'occasion des marais blancs dans le Cotentin. Deux cent kilomètres de vent, de soleil, de froid, de pluie, de pieds mouillés et de paysages magnifiques. J'ai revu quelques endroits où j'avais roulé en été, ils étaient transfigurés par l'eau qui s'accumule en hiver. Super expérience. Un grand merci au club cyclo de Montebourg qui organise cet événement chaque année.

I was supposed to do a longer ride this week, as part of my #audax series. That didn't work out because my dynamo lights stopped working.
Spent a day finding the problem (a short in the wiring loom) and doing a better job.
I have a SON dynamo, Busch & Muller front light and some electronics (Igaro) to recharge things on the go. Connecting these elements is harder than you might expect, cause...
- Things have to come apart for servicing. But, joints are the enemy of reliability & exposed wiring has to be robust (hello spiral flex).
- There are joins between high quality coax cable & bell wire (ughh, thanks B & M)
- The rear light needs to be run via the switched front one - that's where the over current protection is (ask me how I know)
- it needs a junction box for the Igaro feed
This makes the whole thing a bit of a 'mare, but I'm pleased with the result. The in progress kitchen chaos would be a better photo, but didn't take one.

Longer, higher, further, and a lot more food. Comparison is the thief of joy. I try not to do it. Comparing my past and present selves feels okay though.
A check in for myself like most blog posts I write. I've believe it's good to share.
