A 200 to Sheringham Norfolk UK. Home of a launderette that boasts of having North Norfolk's largest duvet machine. (It's so Father Ted it hurts).
The sun came out for a bit while I sat by the sea and tried to guess the UK regional accents of promenading holiday makers. Lots of Brummies, not sure why. Maybe it's a coach trip from the Black Country.
The bike doesn't even need cleaning, that definitely wasn't the case in January.
Took a day off yesterday to complete a permanent 300 (out to Montgomery which has the best Spar I ever experienced) to keep my Super Randonneur hopes alive having quit my calendar 300 (but finished 400). Lovely day after some drizzly beginnings and a mechanical false start…
My body didn’t like the last stint into Poynton but I made it home after under my own power.
In a fit of minor madness I have entered a permanent BR300 on Friday in an attempt to make up for the calendar event I failed to finish in April. I think I’m nearly recovered from my successful BRM400 and it’s a flattish route with a minimum average of 14.3 km/h so should be doable. Day of leave, early start, back home before midnight. Still keen to complete my Super Randonneur this year, would be my first since 2015…
I’ll remember my DI2 cable tool this time ;-)

Keine 24h später, sollte es dann auch wieder zurück gehen, allerdings über 600 km mit ein paar zusätzlichen Pässen..
Ich hatte mir von vornherein keinen Druck damit gemacht und wollte Mal gucken was nach der kurzen Erholung überhaupt noch geht..
Überraschung (für mich): Die Beine waren unerwartet gut! Knapp darüber eher weniger.. 🫣
Aber erstmal schön mit Rückenwind und in großer Gruppe (40-50) über venetianische Landstraßen und Gravel-Tracks gerauscht! 🤩
Kurz vor Verona ist dann der Front-Schaltzug im STI gerissen, und ich hab das Zeichen dankbar angenommen und bin mit 3 weiteren Randonneuren im Zug nach Hause gefahren.
Aber auch das war nochmal ne richtig tolle Erfahrung! 😊
So, endlich Mal den Haken an die 400 gemacht! ✅
Schöne Strecke, wirklich lange gebraucht, dafür richtig viel Randonneur-Spirit erlebt, inkl. zu zweit bei Dauerregen durchs nächtliche Etschtal und Powernap unter einer Brücke..
Aber eben auch sehr viel schöne Landschaft und trockene nächtliche Abfahrt, vom Brenner nach Sterzing auf fast leeren Straßen!
