Last night I went to a wake for a 92-y.o. woman, my girlfriend's childhood neighbor. Decorous enough. Did feel a bit guilty I spent most of it in the front room talking intelligence (octopi & artificial) with a nerd friend.

Apparently my family had a wake in the 1940s where the party got so loud the neighbors called the police. Cops banged on the front door for awhile before the man of the house threw it open, cocktail in hand, & bellowed, "Who are you to disturb our grief?"
