Well, voting is closed (unless you were already in line). So now we wait.

A couple of election cycles ago, I did the early vote count. We were sequestered at a secure Electoral Commission site from 8.30am and counted the early votes for the Wellington region over the course of the day. We had a final early vote count by 6.30pm - which meant we were able to report at 7pm exactly.

We should see similarly early results this evening.

I haven’t yet voted but when I do it will be for the Green Party. They’ve made progress even when in opposition and they actually think about the future. Even their internal conflicts are an indicator of giving a shit and trying things.

Anyway, go vote if you haven’t. Obviously you don’t have to vote as I’d vote, but I encourage you to consider the wellbeing of people less fortunate and less powerful than most. And the future. Consider the future decades. #voteNZ
