This tomato plant certainly is not going gentle into that good night.

This is after I already hacked 2/3 of it away, a couple of weeks ago, then came back today and hacked four more bushels of leaves off...

Here's what I harvested, today, as well as what from yesterday I cut and prepped for overnight oven drying... and also what's STILL LEFT on the vines!

I may take some more over to the coffee shop, or I might just... make another batch of dried tomatoes, tomorrow. (They're so tasty!!!)

Whew, I just spent the better part of an hour cutting back the tomato monster. I harvested about three pounds worth of (plum and cherry) tomatoes, cut a bunch of newer leaves to make pesto, and just... hacked my way through.

The main vines at the base are an inch thick!

I'll post pictures when I'm no longer melting bc it's 87 degrees IN OCTOBER.

I am days away from a tomato onslaught.

(The Tomato Monster is getting close to five feet tall, and spreads out about four feet in every direction except through the fence.)

You might notice that some of them are NOT cherry tomatoes. I'm not sure where these came from - they're in the same spot that the volunteer cherry tomato was, last year... and it is surrounded by a few other volunteer cherry tomatoes.

Y'all.

It's not just one, or even two or three or eight volunteer tomato plants.

I stopped counting at 12.

Also, I think a couple of them aren't even cherry tomatoes, but something bigger.

I've staked as many as I could, and transplanted a couple over along the edge of the alley to a) eventually form a VISIBLE barrier to discourage people driving through the yard... and b) to offer free tomatoes to people who walk through the alley.

Behold, the random flowers that sprouted in the yard!

Behold, also, just behind it, the return of the volunteer tomato plant, which, while I was at #NASFIC fell off of the trellis and is now growing into the lawn.

Honestly, I don't really care! Free tomatoes!
