Being in a different place is always refreshing and inspiring. Whether it is a never visited neighborhood here in Chicago, another city, or a small town on a road trip to have lunch or dinner, there is always something different to experience. I love walking around and observing what the locals do, hearing the sounds of people, animals, or trees moved by a warm or - lately - cold breeze, and getting a sense of the quiet places and lively corners in the neighborhood.

In 2023 I was lucky to visit DC and I took some time to explore neighborhoods I had not been before. This illustration is of Adams Morgan, a diverse neighborhood in many ways where the height differences surprised me. Pretty amazing to walk one moment in dense woods along a meandering creek and another, after crossing a high bridge, in gorgeous neighborhoods with embassies, row houses, historic mid-rise apartment buildings, and a great variety of people, restaurants, and stores.
