Aan de voet van de kruishaag groeit op diverse plekken voederwikke. Het plantje met het samengestelde blad en de paars-roze bloemetjes rechtsonder. Gedurende het groeiseizoen zal die zichzelf wel omhoog hijsen langs de stammetjes.

A bush vetch (Vicia sepium; Zaun-Wicke) flower blooms with its violet-purple petals delicately folded in the classic shape of a pea flower.
At the top of the image, a few blossoms of white bedstraw (Galium album; Weißes Labkraut) remain tightly closed, their tiny buds hinting at the white flowers soon to unfold.
