Let me just be clear: I live on high ground in a town center. I am in no way affected personally by any of the #flooding damage in #Vermont, save for that my tax money will go to fixing things that shouldn't be fixed. I am personally benefitting from the #Act18 implementation process, my .org is part of the #DEI watchdog process, and it's part of my paycheck.
So, I'm not exactly an uninterested party, either. I'm just a #VTer #WoC who advocates for sensible #LandPolicy #Urbanism. #VTpol #VTleg
#Vermont is in the middle of the #ClimateCrisis. The future is here, the #ClimateCatastrophe destruction is happening even as I write this. #VT is out of time for debate.
I hate the idea of bailing out people who made bad choices, but political expedience now wins out. We will all benefit immeasurably in the end.
We're bickering over #Act250 #Act18, arguing school consolidation and broadband up #flooding dirt roads when the #ClimateCataclysm is literally upon us.
Public money planned to be invested in continued expansion of #RuralInfrastructure, like #broadband communications and the maintenance and clearing of rural #roads must be immediately cut off and redirected toward #resettlement of people caught in newly flood prone areas or areas likely to be isolated by our inability to afford to subsidize their choice of pastoral lifestyles.
I know this sounds harsh to some. Reality is harsh.

The past 13 yrs since #HurricaneIrene decimated #Vermontโespecially recent years of continued #floodingโshow beyond all reasonable doubt #VT must radically change #LandPolicy, our relationship to #Nature and #development #redevelopment of our built #environment.
#Vermonters must immediately, rapidly consolidate #population into existing town and city centers. We must deconstruct newly flood prone areas. We must abandon rural #infrastructure entirely.
๐จ #VTLeg Rep Seth Chase files H-329 for permanent Daylight Saving Time. Referred to Gen/Housing Committee, chaired by Steven Thomas, Robin Chesnut-Tangerman, Kathleen James.
Permanent DST would delay sunrise to 8:31am. It cost lives in 1974. American Medical Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Bloomberg Opinion, and more oppose pDST, endorse permanent Standard Time instead.
