@NanoRaptor speaking of #RetroHardware: You know anyone willing to sell a #VT525 and not demanding "end-to-end overnight courier" fees level for shipping?

#DEC #VT525

@wyatt Granted some #ThinClients like the #SunRay series used it.

meanwhile I'm looking for a #VT525 #Terminal that isn't sold by some #scalpers...

@rl_dane @NanoRaptor @dfloyd888 +1

Maybe one day I can get my hands on a #VT525 or something alike it.

Or see @stman to design one of those from scratch given that he needs to engineer a #Terminal anyway for several projects.

VT520 - Wikipedia

@foone I guess people mistake them for the #ThinClients that #Dell sells under the #WYSE brand to this day and think "Let's just charge people as much as they'd be willing to pay for those..."

Even tho I too would love some #amber & #green in my room and would love to test those against @OS1337...

DEC VT320: The Classic 1987 Library Computer Terminal

Digital Equipment Corporation built plenty of terminals in the 70s and 80s, but we're focusing on the VT320-C2. Amber monochrome, LK201 keyboard, and a favor...

@cinnamon @tkk13909 @eSheep I really need to grt my hands on a #VT525...
@foone looks like some #terminal for legacy setups (think #VT525) or a #ThinClient / #ZeroClient of sorts...

@beka_valentine @astraluma that's why late terminals like the #VT525 were mostly a #legacy drop-in replacements and only got used in old installations.

The closest to #Terminals we've got today are #ThinClients but those are just regular #computers made with low-power #embedded / #mobile chips and customized with a minimalist (usually #Linux distro) OS that only does allow for making a #RemoteDesktop session...

Useability-Wise this makes it a replacement as the actual "computing" is elsewhere.

@beka_valentine not necessarily.

The #VT525 is a #Terminal without integrated screen but #VGA output, #Serial Port & #PS2 Keyboard input.

and it even does #Colour!
