I have yet to find a workable solution to being able to mirror the display from a Linux Mint PC to an AppleTV. I hear that UxPlay is supposed to do it, but so far I’ve not had any luck.

Heute Vormittag habe ich dann mal Arch Linux auf dem ThinClient installiert und dort dann #Kodi. Nur um dann festzustellen, dass Kodi aktuell nur Audio via AirPlay unterstützt. Nicht, dass ich irgendwie AirPlay auch nur aktivieren könnte – die Einstellung dafür fehlt. Nicht da. Weg. Und online behaupten alle einschlägigen Suchergebnisse steif und fest, die Einstellung wäre an der Stelle, wo ich geschaut habe. Irgendwo fand ich den Hinweis, dass ich das Paket avahi brauchen und der avahi-daemon.service laufen muss, aber Kodi zeigte sich davon unbeeindruckt.

Nun gut, dann probiere ich eben #uxplay. Ich fände AirPlay in einer Bigscreen-GUI zwar deutlich angenehmer, aber wenn das nicht geht …

Alternativ sage ich meiner Spielleitung, sie solle sich bitte Chrome installieren, damit sie die Bilder per Chromecast auf den TV bringt. Gab es da nicht auch noch irgendwas mit Moonlight oder so?

Just now discovering UxPlay, which allows you to airplay to a linux pc from an iphone/ipad/mac.

At first thought, even I would ask, "why?", but combining it with OBS Studio allows me to video/audio capture for instructional videos quite well with better quality than either using the ipad's built in mic all on a screen where I can see what I'm writing directly.

Gerade habe ich aus Neugier #uxplay installiert.

Was soll ich sagen: Ich bin einfach nur übelst mega-hammer-monster-begeistert. Audio, Video, Filme, alles super flüssig und ohne das geringste Problemchen.

# apt-get install -y uxplay

und dann:
$ uxplay -nh -fs -n "Apple TV" &

Gut, ich motte mein Demo-#iPad jetzt wieder ein, aber als #Apple User würde ich mir ein Loch in den Bauch freuen.

Ich lasse es jetzt einfach mal im Hintergrund laufen und schaue, wer sich versehentlich damit verbindet. ;)
