The ballroom is just another in a long line of Trump’s attempts to continue his authoritarian power grabs in D.C., like his plans to build the so-called "Arc de Trump" along the Potomac River. And his proposal to pay for them with private donations from his supporters raises serious ethical concerns. While gas prices are soaring and working families are struggling to pay for medical costs, groceries, and rent, Trump and his cronies are focused on king-making. We don’t need a...
finally doing taxes, is it normal that i cannot log into freefilefillableforms.com right after creating an account?
I just created two accounts with the same email and phone but different usernames/passwords, and I can't log into either ("wrong password" but wrong mfer i do not make that mistake, also the password is 20char long and the only symbol is _ which i don't mind saying in public because i did the math). Did I create "false positive" accounts that didn't actually get created, or is it normal to have to calm down and wait a business day or three before it becomes possible to do taxes?
Taxes filed. I've used the Boomer-sounding-name "Free Tax USA" past 2 or 3 years which is free for Federal and state filing cost is reasonable. We ALL were SUPPOSED to be able to file for free via IRS this year, last year it was limited but this year was supposed to be available to everyone. But of course Trump killed that to please the vampires corporations who prey on us _for something we're required by law to do_ Fuck you Intuit.
For the first time in a while I don't owe anything. I upped the additional amount I paid each month to cover the small additional 1099-NEC income I generally have and pretty much got it right this time (plus I didn't run my shop this year, so no income from that to worry over). Getting a pittance back on Federal, but it sure beats having to pay. Getting the usual state refund.
...whew...
One advantage of doing my own taxes for years: even without help from TaxAct, I was able to figure out, eventually, that the software was not being unreasonable. Just a bit opaque.
RBC Wealth Management, who handle my IRA, screwed up the state portion of the 1099-R. Two fields.
And when I contacted them to complain about the field being blank, they blew me off because "the IRS does not care about that field". Well, the IRS doesn't. but the state of Colorado does...
Grr. I have used TaxAct software (backed by H&R Block) for years, in the downloaded form, not online. But their support for the downloaded version seems to be evaporating: they used to support both MAC and Windows... MAC support is gone, and while they will still sell you the downloadable Windows version, there is no longer a way to access their support system from the desktop version with questions or problems.
