#TaxAct upgrades me to their deluxe package b/c I paid $3 in foreign taxes, charging $60 EXTRA.

...so I'm trying #FreeTaxUSA. They note b/c I paid below $300, I don't have to file Form 1116 for the foreign tax.

...TaxAct.com is charging me $60 for them to do absolutely nothing. Assholes. I'm done.

@proto I had just posted a similar question this morning...

I did the IRS screening for the free tax prep programs and frankly, I'm sure they're fine but didn't inspire huge confidence.

On recommendation from someone here on #mastodon, tried TaxAct and I was very pleased. And luckily because of my (now) pretty simple tax situation, I think I'll be able to file for free.
