In the past year, the multi-guitar-driven rock band from Indianapolis named Wishy has adorned the music world with two solid EPs (Mana and Paradise) and on August 16th they will be releasing their first full length album entitled Triple Seven. Several terrific songs from Triple Seven have already been released to positive reviews and responses. “Sick Sweet” is a particularly infectious and fun track that grabs the listener from the start and holds you throughout.

Having been born and raised in Indy, I always wandered if/when the music scene there would produce a band that broke out to become nationally/internationally known. Similar-sized cities nearby have done so, but aside from John Mellencamp from Bloomington/Seymour, the locally grown success list is kinda sparse. Granted Axl Rose (Guns ‘N’ Roses) is from Lafayette and David Lee Roth (Van Halen) is from Bloomington, but their bands were not organically grown in Central Indiana.

Wishy appears to be filling that void as they certainly have been noticed here in the states and across the pond in Britain where NME (New Music Express) has been raving about them. It is also really nice to soak-up and enjoy the comeback of multi-layered guitar-driven rock by new bands like Wishy and Been Stellar. Bring on more of this music industry…please!

Hope or “Wish(y)” all of you get a chance to check out this terrific band, as their musical trajectory is rocketing onward and upward. Given how engaging and enjoyable Wishy’s music is, the plaudits are very well deserved.
