@stephanie Although, I did really try to throw myself at Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic, I just wasn't Man enough for the task. Now that's a game that teaches you the horror show of accommodating parking.
Children of the Nile is technically a newer game, one that I loved, but it just doesn't run well enough.
City Skylines never clicked. I don't know why. It felt like I could have been a contender. Predatory DLC maybe?
Not sure Dwarf Fortress counts.
Special thanks to @stephanie for reminding me how much I love Tropico, a 25ish year old game. I have not played any of the newer titles mind you, but boy is this the good stuff.
I just used a hex editor to whip El Présidente up a fair sum of bonus dollars, to take the edge off, and it's still amazingly punishingly difficult. It's the only city builder that I still find entertaining, having lost my love for this type of thing a while ago.
It's fun how quickly non-essential workers become very essential when you push them.
