On this day in 1876, the first ever telephone call was made by the device's inventor, Alexander Graham Bell: https://www.beoffices.com/first-ever-telephone-call

One of the first pieces I wrote about for the Coin of Note site was an Italian "Gettone Telefonico" token - a piece which also features on the cover image (& my profile picture here): https://coinofnote.com/gettone-telefonico-italian-telephone-token/

#TokenTuesday: This 1933 #NYTMCollection token was used to transfer between buses within the service area of the East Side Omnibus Corporation. The token is punched out with the initials “E” and “S,” indicating “East Side.”
#TokenTuesday: This #NYTMCollection token, from the mid-late 1920s, was used to pay the fare for trolley shuttle service over the Williamsburg Bridge. This short route travelled between the trolley terminal at Delancey Street in Manhattan to Bridge Plaza in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
#TokenTuesday: The Five Boroughs Token debuted in 1995 and was the last token to be used in the #NYCsubway. A fare increase to $1.50 ushered in the new token which featured a pentagonal hole at the center to symbolize the five boroughs of #NYC.

I went to send a couple of transport tokens to a friend in the #USA today. With the current #tariffs, anything heading stateside needs to have a customs declaration with the right tariff code. The post office and I found some lists, but nothing on them close to #tokens. Does anyone happen to have a link or know what to put? Or is it just not worth trying to post to the US for now? The post office did say that they have had a large percentage of mail for the US returned currently because they weren't happy with the tariff code.

This is a gift for a friend, and has practically no value. I'd be very frustrated if I was trying to sell & post things as a business.

I didn't take a picture of the gift, but here are a couple of transport tokens from the blog:

Hi everyone! For those who follow me for numismatic information: good news! FediGroups have setup the @numismatics group, and you can follow it! I will try to ensure everything I post mentions it, and if you do as well, it will ensure I see it too :)

Thanks to @hello! And thanks to @FediThing who prompted me to explore further :)

Finally, for those who follow me NOT for numismatic news..... I am very curious - please reach out and let me know, as it is all I post! :)

EDIT: As I just remembered - you need to FOLLOW @numismatics before you can post to it.... and that applies to me to even though I requested the group :)

#TokenTuesday: Do you ride the PATH train? Until 1962, its routes were operated by H&M Hudson Tubes. The system was renamed the PATH when it was taken over by the Port Authority of NY and NJ. This 1946 #NYTMCollection token was part of the H&M era. It features a cut out H with the words “one fare.”
#TokenTuesday: #ObjectSpotlight on this Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority token from the #NYTMCollection. Minted in 1982, this copper-plated token cost 60 cents and covered the fare for the Marine Parkway, Henry Hudson, and Cross Bay bridges.
#TokenTuesday: #ObjectSpotlight on this unusual #1970s #NYCSubway "Y" cut token from the #NYTMCollection. The "Y" on these classic tokens was supposed to be cut out between the letters "N" and "C" to spell out "NYC."
Here are two railway checks from the UK. One from London North East Railway (LNE.DI) and a Pay Check from BR (W). Does anyone know of a good reference for these kind of pieces please? I'd be interested in learning more. #TokenTuesday
