With the house in front of ours knocked down it’s easier to get an idea of some of the trees on our property. From left is a box elder maple (Acer negundo) in front of which are three olive trees. In the centre is a Tipuana (T. tipu) with another 25yo one on the right
The treetop visible at the back left is a ficus of which another is hidden behind the Tipuana on the right. The net effect is a 5 degree cooler microclimate

Tipuana (T. tipu) is a South American tree and this one I planted on the verge at the front of our property. We wouldn’t normally get to see its magnificence except they’ve just knocked down the house in front of ours
Growing up to 30 metres (98 ft) in height and 20 metres (66 ft) wide, #Tipuanatipu is well known for its use as a shade tree.
It’s South American in origin.
The reason why I featured this gorgeous specimen today is that it is sooo healthy. Despite the warm month we’ve had (mid-summer), it has withstood the challenges of all that comes with a #melbourne summer.
The great thing is that this will flower (yellows!) later this month, early next.
A pic of what’s to come (pic 4) is sourced from wiki.
