Happy birthday to Phil Thornalley, born on this day in 1950.

After Strawberry Switchblade finished their album in 1984, it was felt that there needed to be a couple more singles so Thornalley was recruited to produce Let Her Go & the proto-dreampop Who Knows What Love Is.

Produced by Phil Thornalley (fresh from working with The Cure), it features the band's trademark harmonies, contrasting a light pop sensibility with a thumping catchy bridge and chorus. And with Tim Pope doing the video it seemed bound to be a big hit.

Alas, it was not to be. Still sounds mighty, though.
