I've spent a good half an hour today reporting fly-tipping to #Bristol City Council, plus I've sent an email to officers about their failure to remove the fly-tip below which has been in situ since the 3rd week of January*. :(

I took a 5 minutes stroll to the local shops - and 5 mins. back - then spent a good 15-20 minutes reporting the fly-tipping (total 10 no.) I encountered.

Dumping furniture on the street even if it is labelled 'Free' is still fly-tipping and can attract a maximum penalty of £50K and/or 6 months imprisonment.

Give your 'free' furniture to a charity shop or put in on the likes of Freecycle or similar to avoid a criminal record and an empty bank account.

"A report to the environment and sustainability committee this evening (Thursday, February 26) says none of the suggestions had been implemented because officers had deemed them unnecessary – despite the political cross-party support from elected councillors."

I note that an extra £350k is planned to fight fly-tipping and improve street cleansing next year in #Bristol.

I'll give the council one very half-hearted cheer for #tokenism.
