#Hashtags are essential in Mastodon. It's how we follow subjects & filter unpleasantness (not everyone wants to read about #Trump).
Tagging "#news" is a start, but better to include a theme ( eg: #Covid, #FoodSecurity) & with politics, a jurisdiction (#CDNpoli, #Abpoli). #CamelCase is better for those using screen readers; so is listing # at the end:
