Thinking back to the time I had one of the most Australian experiences ever: this happened in 2019, and yes, I had drunken the entire cup before I noticed it.

#AltText: Ok, so my mum just tried to kill me by giving me a cup of tea with a fucking spider in it 😳 then she had the nerve to say, and I quote:
“It’s ok, I don’t think it drank much of the tea.”
Just now I was sitting on the floor wrapping Christmas gifts when a huge clap of thunder unexpectedly sounded, almost shaking the house. For me Christmas is now starting to get really real. You see, where we live in NSW, thunder storms are common around December and January. When I was little and we had a thunder storm in December, Mum would say it was Santa rolling his big barrels filled with toys and gifts for all the girls and boys making the sound. Of course, after Christmas the thunder was Santa rolling his empty barrels and packing them away for next Christmas. Consequently, I was never afraid of thunder but instead embraced it as part and parcel of the Christmas season. Until we get thunder, Christmas never seems really real to me but now we've had the first noisy thunder storm of the season I know Christmas is almost here. And the best part is the memories of my Mum that it has brought to mind.
