A blog post describing the design and use of a #TextBasedAdventure engine written in #Rust, and aimed at a younger audience. This isn't the README, it's the explainer of the _why_, which is is 1. always super useful and 2. sorely lacking in the world of software in general.
An Interactive Story Game Engine In Rust: After seeing a friend's interactive text-only story game, I thought to myself, "I could build an engine for something like that from scratch!" In fact, since it is "so simple," I could show off and make it in Rust, Go, Python, and Java to compare all four of these languages. Or so I thought...
Looking for a good mystery? Check THIS out. It's nonlinear nature sparks memories of The Return of the Obra Dinn (another game given thunderous applause), also listed as an inspiration.
It is text based and playing your own low energy horror themed music in the background is recommended.

Rediscovered my favorite mobile game series this week after finding out they released a new one a few years ago that I missed.
From 3 Minute Games, the Lifeline series is a lot of fun as a text-based role playing game. The stories are very well done and I love the “choose your adventure” style of play.
And my favorite part: they’re designed to be played over several days because the stories happen “in real time”. As you communicate with a character and they go off and do something the game will “pause” until they’re done and start talking to you again.
I decided to start the series over from the beginning today and it’s been long enough that I don’t remember all the details and it’s fun to figure out what’ll happen as I choose each option.
If you enjoy text adventure you should absolutely try "Lost Pig". It's not the longest game, but it is really funny.
I made another shitpost on #AIDungeon, if anyone wants to play an #AI driven #TextBasedAdventure about #Cum...

Just found #WritingWonders (thanks @ixtlidekami for boosting others), and I thought it would help me work on a #TextBasedAdventure (#InteractiveFiction) game I've been working on for a while.
I'm going to try and do a few a day to catch up. So, here's my Day 1.
"Siege of Remontel" is a #StarTrek #FanFiction IF game.
The story takes place in the late 23rd century on a starship of little significance. The ship has inexplicably been taken over by a group of pirates. 1/2
