Ah, the magical world where #Apple and #Google gently expand their hardware control empire under the guise of #security, while we peasants beg for #JavaScript permission just to use Mastodon 🤡🔒. Remember kids, if it's not locked down tighter than Fort Knox, is it even tech? 🤖🔐

Apple and Google are gradually expanding their use of hardware-based attestation. They're convincing a growing number of services to adopt it. Google's Play Integrity API and Apple's App Attest API are very similar. Apple brought it to the web via Privacy Pass, which Google intends on doing too.

I may be old (I was actually called that by someone today when I said this), but for me, the idea that this instance runs on a device just a few meters away from me, with hard drives I can physically touch, an operating system I trust, and backups that are both local and remote but fully under my control makes me feel truly free.

🍏 Apple's approach to Apple Intelligence is classic Apple—it's all about keeping Siri powerful, but firmly within their ecosystem. By giving Siri direct access to apps through developer APIs instead of teaching it to use any app, Apple is playing a smart game. 🎮 Rather than making Siri a "free agent" AI that could roam across devices, this keeps Siri deeply integrated only within Apple's world. 🌐
From a user perspective, this means smooth interactions, more reliable app integration, and fewer compatibility issues. As long as you're in the Apple universe, everything feels seamlessly connected. 🌌✨ But the catch? This keeps users inside Apple's "walled garden." 🧱🍏 No straying outside if you want that full Siri functionality!
🤖 Sure, a truly universal AI, one that could interact with any device, would offer way more flexibility. But Apple’s approach means Siri’s powers grow without sacrificing control over the user experience. This strategy aligns perfectly with Apple's brand identity and its promise of security and exclusivity. 🛡️
In short, Apple’s strategy is great for #Apple and great for users—if you're happy staying within their world. 🌍💼
