When I was 17, I had a Royal Bank account, my military pay went directly in and usually 3 days before the end of the month. They were unkind to me, so I left them. But I have their VISA but no other RBC account . I don't do online banking or apps.

There was no internet. I still wrote cheques & had a bankbook. I'm OK doing everything on an ATM machine but we don't have any banks or ATMs. I moved in May 2025, and just changed my mailing address today, through threats and hours of my time. I keep getting a virtual assistant telling me to use APP

Back when I got my bills, they always included an envelope for the cheque payment and on the flap, a change of address. They don't send that anymore. I refuse to trust my banking to apps and internet, when every day it's another breach and no banker can explain the encryption they promise

So, I've received another batch of identity-theft spam, targeting #Canada #Canadian #Canadians with #investment -related #IdentityTheft #scams.

The messages direct the target to update their US IRS W-8BEN forms, which require that you enter a bunch of personal information, and are probably stealing login and password and #2FA codes to get access to investment accounts.

Remind your family and friends, especially the elderly and non-tech-savvy folks to NEVER click links in eMails from banks or investment companies.

The targets this week are #TDBank, #NationalBank, but they have previously attempted to impersonate #Questrade and #RBC and #wealthsimple

Why people hate old banks.

I moved to a new address 3 years ago. All change of addresses have been done.

Now on RBC Express (a business service), they have a separate mailing address, the old one.

When I call the help line for RBC Express: we can't change it, call your branch.

When I call the branch: we can't do it, call RBC Express.

So nobody actually can change my address. The website doesn't let you change it.

I need the address changed for receiving a security token

I'm flabbergasted at the big #Canadian banks' ads during this world series.

#RBC has an ad where a smarmy spokesman says RBC cares about you & then acts like an ass to a woman in a branch & grins cockily at the camera.

#TD has an ad that centers on how comfortable the chairs in their branches are.

That's the caliber of #advertising from some of Canada's richest corporations??

Both these ads are making the case AGAINST banking there.
