I tried to look up Tangara today on Mastodon and got 0 returns on the hashtag #Tangera so I'm tagging this pinned post so I can find it later with the hashtag #Tangera.
I'm glad I had bookmarked this.
I'm still interested in getting one at some point.
Edit: Apparently it's #Tangara, not #Tangera. Oops. Oh well. The misspelled tag will probably still help me later because I'll do it again.

@mander honest to god, I think you're after a #Tangara. Similar in size to the OG iPod (IIRC), it uses open hardware and software for high quality playback of music files
Just make sure you also pick up a good SD card if you go through with it; not a microSD + adapter, an actual card, ideally from a camera store. That's bitten me... frequently, we'll say, with mine 😐
