Two giant tanks, each with a capacity of 7,700 cubic meters (more than 2 million US gallons), still hide underground, and there are also at least three other smaller (yet still huge) tanks at the site.

The Nazis used it to store methanol for the nearby Paraxolwerk armaments factory in Niederlehme. The East Germans expanded its capacity and used it to store jet fuel.
