I’m sure there will be attribution studies to come, but it’s widely accepted that global heating is leading to less frequent but more severe tropical cyclones. Which is probably irreversible and sucks, in short.

Overnight, #CycloneIlsa set a ten minute sustained wind speed record of 218km/h. That’s the hardest the wind has ever blown (and been recorded) ever in Australia.
