Just kidding, it's fine so far – more steady rain than torrential downpour, and nothing like destructive winds and flooding the poor folk further north have had to endure.
It is *quite* wet though. I have a you-didn't-sleep-long-enough headache so I'm hoping to schedule a nap later, and we have power so there is plenty of tea. The chimney is leaking just a little bit and the gutters are reminding us that they need replacing. Hopefully all this water will make it to the dams and tanks after a very dry summer
Are near coastal waters warmer than offshore waters?
Can this result in stronger cyclones?
If Narrelle tracks south down the coast just offshore will wind speeds stay higher than a well-offshore southerly track would allow?

Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle strengthened to Category 4 off the coast of Western Australia on March 26, 2026, and was forecast to pass close to the North West Cape before tracking south along the Gascoyne coast on March 27. The Bureau of Meteorology warned the system could bring very destructive wind gusts up to 275 km/h (171 mph), dangerous storm surge, and heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding across parts of the Pilbara and Gascoyne. #cyclone #Narelle #WA #Australia
