Quietly positive today. All the design software I haven’t used for over five years is coming back to me. I’m able to create design proofs for our business. I’m able to work at home. I have a new quartet of phenomenally talented musicians that I’m singing with, one of whom arranged a song especially for me. And it’s Friday and I have a mug of nice chai tea latte warming my hands and tummy.

We had our regional "learning weekend" for Sweet Adelines this past weekend and it was super fun. I went to a breakout session regarding DEI in the organization and it is SO needed. There are so many barriers to inclusion including the organization's racist history, discrimination against trans and nonbinary genders, and the participation costs. Looking forward to learning AND DOING more!

Listen, when I tell you that spending two nights this weekend at a choral retreat in Parsippany is the closest thing I've had to a vacation in six years I'm not even joking and I. CANNOT. WAIT.
I had the tough conversation I had been anticipating last night. I ran through five or six different scenarios in my head over and over. I had a stress nightmare the night before. The person I had to speak with was receptive, kind, and understanding. And I have now cut the last strands tying me to a quartet I didn't want to sing with LOL. I know it sounds minor but it was huge for me :)
This week I've been thinking about purpose, and it struck me that even though all I do is sing as a hobby I truly feel like my purpose in life is to sing for people.
Then last night at rehearsal someone said something the slightest bit critical and it ruined my night. So I need to develop a thicker skin before I consider this a true purpose in life.

(I know about Buccee's politics - they kicked out a group of #SweetAdelines for singing, too. However, I've always felt safe in their #bathrooms using the side I align with rather than the one I was incorrectly assigned. Individual stalls on both sides. With actual to-the-floor walls and doors.)
I guess I'm of the age now that friends and their spouses are going to start getting ill and passing away. A few of my colleagues from my #SweetAdelines chorus passed away over the last few years but so far the only close friend death was due to an aggressive breast cancer several years ago.
Today is a friend's husband's funeral. I'm not sure what US funeral etiquette is, really. I'm dressed in black. I paid attention to my hair and makeup because it just felt respectful. Anything I'm missing?
The only thing I like better than a big event that completely upends my normal routine, is when that event is over and I can start reassembling the routine again.
Spent a cozy half hour setting my #BulletJournal for the new month and reflecting on the old. Now that contest is over it's time to start focusing back on health goals.
