Oh my. I've got a MS #SurfacePro 3 running #Debian 12 which is almost randomly losing its #mwifiex #wifi interface after any resume.
I already switched the kernel to 6.10.10-surface-1

I can't see any pattern on wifi breakdown. I don't know what to check/modify/do. 😔

I hereby declare our household #Windows-free (again) after investing 1½ days setting up #Debian12 on a #SurfacePro3 of my wife. 🤓
#Linux #Debian is not there yet for being set up by a non-IT-professional person but the end result is somewhat OK for now (still a few annoying things to fix like loss of WiFi after hibernate/resume, black screen after lid opening, wrong external screen resolution, ...).
However, this might have saved us from buying a new notebook for university. 🤑

Ich habe Akku geleert: ausgehen lassen und dann den power-knopf ~24h gedrückt, bis nicht mal mehr der "Akku-alle-Warnbildschirm" kam.
Keine Besserung.
Gibt es noch sachdienliche Hinweise was man tun kann ohne das Gerät öffnen zu müssen?
Linh PhamI switched over to using #Wayland and, while something things are smoother and HiDPI is handled better, there are still hitches and some graphical artifacts that pop up.
Nothing can resolve the issue with the meh typing and trackpad experience of the type cover; especially, when compared to any of my MacBook Pros. It's serviceable, but I would probably end up using an external keyboard and trackball if it were my daily driver.
Testing out the kitty terminal emulator as Konsole feels like a step backwards compared to iTerm2 on macOS.
I've installed VS Code, but haven't set up my development environment yet.

Cam St Clair 🇦🇺I'm really happy with how #windows11 runs on hardware as old as a #surfacepro3. I've got the i7/8gb version, and it's perfect. Looks awesome too. I've resisted posting about it until I had a few days to test it, but it runs great.
For anyone thinking about doing it but wondering... #windows11 runs perfectly fine on a #microsoft #surfacepro3 despite not being officially supported. I modified the registry (which is a change Microsoft gave a cautious 'okay' to), downloaded the Windows Media Creation Tool, and it installed without issue. So I had no choice, and there realized that my 7-year old #SurfacePro3 is still good for work. 👍
And yet I'm thinking of getting another* computer 🤪 to keep in my old home so I can just pedal 🚴 back and forth and not need to keep bringing the heavy notebook 💻 and 🚗. 🤔
The Surface Pro and notebook 💻 go together because 1 is a backup. Must have a backup. ☝️
