Kubuntu 26.04 - Volume/sound level gets stuck into a short range upon connecting bluetooth devices #sound #kubuntu #bluetooth #pipewire #wireplumber

When connecting bluetooth speakers or earbuds in Kubuntu 26.04, the following bug happens: the sound level gets stuck into a short range (centered around the last sound level before connection, so ...
I had to bail on Bazzite 44, my X1-255 780m machine was getting horrible frame time spikes in anything DX12/VKD3D under proton, i tried everything i could think of for days and nothing helped, first try on Kubuntu 26.04 and things are normal again, no idea what the problem with Bazzite, but I felt super stuck not being able to easily upgrade drivers or recompile stuff on my own, slap on a new kernel at will, bazzite is great until something breaks!

@brettm thanks.
Logically: anyone who chooses to reject FreeBSD on that basis may also choose to reject all projects that use OpenZFS. I can not recommend such sweeping rejections.
Two of the three commits:
― range_tree: use zfs_panic_recover() for partial-overlap remove · openzfs/zfs@6495daf — <https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/commit/6495dafd58b94a44fc9bc966ef47d6bc6916f5b9> (2026-02-25)
― Fix read corruption after block clone after truncate · openzfs/zfs@1644e2f — <https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/commit/1644e2ffd2640fa3e2c191ceaf048a5fc8399493> (2026-04-14)
I don't foresee a fork of OpenZFS.
I'm a very happy user of OpenZFS-native encrypted root-on-ZFS with Ubuntu-based Kubuntu.
@kaliwolf
Well I did not "move over" as one can't remove #NetPlan on #Ubuntu or #Kubuntu becasue of package dependencies etc...
but one can disable it more or less & let #NetworkManager take over.
What kills me about NetPlan is that it's more or less incomplete as it is missing so much, good thing it is only found on Ubuntu.
I've been getting into Bonding & 802.3ad/LACP https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link_aggregation
#LinkAggregation
So what were you trying to do that NetPlan got in the way for you?
