I think politicians were expected to answer questions in a more nuanced way. Media training was less obvious and therefore the electorate was more inclined to listen.

Così, ricevendo in una affollata Aula Magna della Statale di Milano, la laurea honoris causa magistrale in Musica, Culture, Media e Performance, Ornella Vanoni, morta pochi mesi fa, ricordava il suo incontro con il cantautore descrivendolo come un momento che le ha cambiato la vita.
“Vedendo un ragazzo bruttino che suonava malino, gli ho detto ‘mi scriveresti una canzone?’, lui mi ha detto sì, ed era Paoli”, raccontò Vanoni ricevendo la laurea. In platea ad applaudirla numerosi studenti ma anche amici tra cui Mahmood, Samuele Bersani, Fabio Fazio, Luciana Littizzetto, Mario Lavezzi e Liliana Segre.
