#Badenoch thinks #Starmer is a liar over what he knew about vetting process for #Mandelson.

I don’t. He is an arrogant middle manager promoted way beyond his capabilities.

Who in the country thought Mandelson had an unblemished record that would mean that he would sail through a vetting process? Precisely no one.

But Starmer announced him in post before the vetting process was complete.

What was the civil service and MI6 then supposed to do? They had been set up to fail by Starmer.

I really hate to agree with #BadEnoch, but she is spot on here:

If it's really true that Starmer knew nothing about how Mandelson was vetted and didn't want to find out, then it is indeed preposterous.

And if it's not true, then Starmer has been telling Johson-level lies.

Keir Starmer says it's 'staggering' he wasn’t told Mandelson failed security vetting - live updates

There is renewed anger about the ex-US ambassador's appointment after it emerged the Foreign Office did not tell the PM about Mandelson's vetting.

Of course we shouldn’t drill for more oil in the North Sea – we cancelled further exploitation for a reason

We are at a critical point in the climate emergency and already struggling to meet emissions reduction targets. The UK government must hold its nerve, says Bill McGuire, professor emeritus of geophysical and climate hazards

Starmer's press conference was a masterclass.
He was totally on top of all of the questions thrown at him by the journalists.
He is obviously very respected internationally which is incredibly important at the moment.
Thank heavens we haven't got a Badenoch or Farage at the helm.

#Bbclaurak questions #Badenoch persistently as to who she would help with energy bills. Finally she says "Everybody, but not in this way"

So she means rich and poor people alike

During #BBCLauraK #Badenoch admits that drilling in the North Sea "will not go on people's bills"

But she has been banging on about it all month as if it would. 🙄

Someone is paying her to say all of this fossil fuel nonsense

Who is going to be the one to tell #Badenoch that UK North Sea oil production peaked in 1999, over a quarter of a century ago?

Or that the UK doesn’t even use much of what it produces, it exports most of it. So more licenses to drill will do nothing to the fuel bills of British people.

We currently get most of the crude oil the UK uses from the USA, Norway and Kemi’s childhood home of Nigeria.
