TrinsecJust finished watching Mary and the Witch's Flower, a Japanese animation of which the art is very similar to Studio Ghibli's movies. A quick Wikipedia glance confirms it for me, there are people working at Studio Ponoc who've worked at Ghibli before. Neat, that's another studio to keep on the lookout for!
This movie has a nice enough storyline, it's action-packed and plays in a fantastic setting beyond the normal world. Just like most of Ghibli's movies. At least this one makes more sense than The Boy and the Heron, that one was just outright weird.
Anyway, I'm a sucker for stories playing in a hidden/another/secret realm beyond the normal world. I absolutely loved Spirited Away. Story-wise this one's not as great, but it was plenty enjoyable enough to watch. Graphically it's pretty good.
Basically girl moves to a new place. Finds special flowers. Ends up in some magical place. Chaos ensues! And those cats? I wish I could cuddle them! I think they could use a good cuddle, they always look so grumpy.
