Today, #LeidenUniversity holds an annual lecture to commemorate Dr. Rudolph Cleveringa, who gave a famous lecture in honor of his Jewish colleague and in protest of the Nazi occupation on November 26, 1940.

Yet, while claiming to celebrate the scholar who stood against the Nazi occupation and #genocide, Leiden University remains complicit in perpetuating ‘israel’s’ occupation and genocide - including #scholasticide - in Palestine.

Leiden University’s silence is a grave betrayal of Cleveringa’s lessons. By staying complicit genocide, occupation, and the violent denial of a people’s right to self determination, LU is exploiting and defiling Cleveringa’s legacy.

We protest today to call out Leiden University’s hypocrisy and complicity. No research project can justify working with institutions complicit in occupation and genocide.

Yesterday, three UvA protesters faced court. Simone Z. received 2 months in prison for defending herself during a peaceful occupation violently cleared by police. Another student got 60 hours of community service for throwing a water bottle. This is repression. The real violence comes from the police and UvA, which remains complicit in oppression.

Join us at Science Park 904 right now and bring tents, sleeping bags, flags and banners!

Today marks the establishment of the fourth encampment at the University of Amsterdam. We have reclaimed the university in the name of freedom fighter and political prisoner Walid Daqqa, and all Palestinian imprisoned comrades in Israeli prisons, as well as in the Netherlands, and beyond.
Daqqa was martyred on the 7th of April, after 38 years of imprisoned, but his resilient spirit will never die! When our knowledge institutions silence the freedom movement and those fighting for liberation, we reclaim the power by raising our voices in unison.

We are loud in reclaiming our universities and showing solidarity with all Palestinian political prisoners!
