Gorgeous relaxed #stonecrop #plants - growing out of a stone garden bed. Beautiful #sedums 😍
They're soft to touch.
Some plump little tufts of Sedum (stonecrop) up on a mountain in the Okanagan.

We enjoyed a pleasant #Sunday afternoon at #StoneCrop #Gardens in Cold Spring NY. Many of the blooms have faded already due to the dry conditions but we savored a quiet time listening to and watching the bees buzzing about. Check out the website for more info. Highly recommended. www.stonecrop.org #hudsonvalleyny #relax

My neighbor’s lovely Stonecrop plants are *just* starting to flower. They’ll be a colorful addition to Labor Day weekend, and maybe into the Fall.

Annual Stonecrop (Sedum annuum, Einjähriger Mauerpfeffer), is a delicate, low-growing succulent native to dry, nutrient-poor habitats such as alpine meadows, rocky outcrops, and sandy soils. It is easily recognized by its reddish, fleshy stems and small, star-shaped yellow flowers that bloom in summer. As an annual species, it completes its life cycle within one growing season, often forming small but dense patches.
Ecologically, Sedum annuum plays a valuable role as a pioneer species, helping to stabilize soils in erosion-prone or recently disturbed areas. Its drought tolerance allows it to thrive where few other plants can, contributing to plant biodiversity in marginal environments. The flowers attract a range of small pollinators, including bees and hoverflies, supporting local insect populations in high-altitude or dry habitats.
We have a lot of stone lefts in our meadows, so plenty wildflower can grow on top or around.
