Apparently Betamax video cassettes are the reason why 44.1kHz sampling rate is in the CD Red Book standard rather than a round number. I am pleased that the podcast gave the correct members of Art of Noise.

You know the drill- music tech press(and tech industry press in general !) undergoing rapid enshittification. Some will be inclined to say we're already a decade on from the worst of it (rip Keyboard mag and Electronic Musician). Okay...possibly the difference between mostly irrelevant and totally useless is splitting hairs but for gear #SoundOnSound is still pretty good and writers at #MixOnline are very much still on their game
