Snowy, not too cold but very nice view over the #LTSER area Matschertal/Val Mazia.

Replaced a #SoilTemp logger at 2500m that was destroyed by cows...
No metal cage resists a cow's rage 🐄

Further, checked on of #EuracResearch|s #AlpEnv meteo station at 2400m.

Despite a rainy start, the weather was quite friendly up at 2500m at #EuracResearch's #LTSER site Matsch/Mazia in #Vinschgau, #SouthTyrol, #Italy

Checked some #SoilTemp loggers for fresh #alpine soil temperature data from our (dry) grassland spots.

sun shields?
I suggest it is a combination of high radiation (loggers are at 2500m) followed by heavy summer storms (large hailstones)? ⛈️

#Introduction

I am postdoc @ iDiv, the Leipzig Institute for Meteorological research (LIM) and the Centre Écologie Fonctionnelle et Évolutive (CEFE) in Montpellier.
I am actually working on the effect of vegetation diversity on soil #microclimate using a range of #BEF experiments and the global database #SoilTemp. I am interested in within ecosystems (especially #soil) spatial and temporal dynamics and the relationship between #biodiversity and microclimate.
