One of my in-laws wrapped everything in the comics section of the newspaper. They saved them all year and used up their stockpile at Christmas. That practice disappeared in the last decade with online news consumption and newsprint going out of style.

I like the cloth bags and I think we'll start using them going forward. Although I may have 20 years supply of wrapping paper on hand from Costco sized rolls.

I replied to a brother on that substack thingy, who wrote this article:

Decided to rescue my comments and post them here also:

I'm coming around to your no-notes rule. Bibles don't last long here, don't wear well, not made to last at all. I've bought some new ones, different versions, recently, and decided not to mark them up. For all the reasons you mentioned, plus some. Am seriously considering a change of version because of changes in the Portuguese NIV (NVI). So I'm at a good place to be reminded of this. Thanks!

Oh, coffee on TWO Bibles? (I hope it wasn't Brazilian coffee ...) Of course, I lost two hard drives back in the day. Sometimes a fellow doesn't learn the first time around. :)

Down on Marking Up

You might think a preacher marks up his Bible more than anyone, with highlighting, underlining, cross-references, definitions, asterisks, footnotes, color-coded margin scribbles.

How has it taken me this long to discover?
Bonus: How come I haven't found it on the Android app?

It only took me 50 years of cooking/baking to realize that cutting butter into smaller pieces makes it easier to mix with sugar when mixing by hand.

Interesting. I never knew that Ctrl-9 / Cmd-9 was such a common shortcut for "go to *last* tab" until a couple of weeks ago when I read it in a Firefox or Brave shortcuts list. There I was, thinking it should take me to the 9th tab, of all things...
Transpires it also works in macOS Terminal, too.
And now I'm almost living off it ;)

Bummed...
I was looking forward to partner practice with fellow staff increasing our vocabulary. Got caught talking to a neighborhood official and missed practice. Rather than having a pity party I could be at least practicing with a mirror. Time to do it!

@Lana Started getting back into guitar for the first time in 45 yrs a couple months ago. After getting tendonitis, _then_ started googling proper technique. Which I’m now trying to learn in between physical therapy sessions. #slowlearner
Guitars are tuned an octave below where guitar music is written. I still laugh about the time I bought a guitar for my kids from someone who didn't know that and the high-E string mysteriously kept breaking. Clearly, I do not have 'perfect pitch'.
Fast forward to today when the Linux 'GNU Lingot' tuner app patiently explained to me, musically 'keen but subnormal', that my voice is an octave lower than I thought, for very obvious reasons. #SlowLearner but #EverythingIsRelative.

Makes the same edit in Brightspace for the third time because it doesn't automatically save when you switch between modules.
