In a previous life, I interned at Cray Research.
We updated manufacturing-facility Informix database code & scripts with Y2K fixes in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, which was the original Cray Research HQ.
At the time, they were known as "Cray Research, A Silicon Graphics Company".

Las máquinas de esta imagen —como la 𝑺𝑮𝑰 𝑶2, 𝑶𝒄𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒆, 𝑶𝒏𝒚𝒙2 y la familia 𝑶𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒏/𝑶𝒏𝒚𝒙— no eran computadoras comunes: eran workstations y supercomputadoras visuales diseñadas para hacer posible lo que una PC doméstica de los 90 no podía procesar.
𝗦𝗚𝗜 fue sinónimo de gráficos 3D, visualización científica, efectos visuales, simulación, diseño industrial, animación y cine digital.
What's this? The #VirtualOSmuseum includes #SGI #Irix? Ooh shiny! I didn't think there were any working emulators. Now downloading so I can pick it apart and see how it does it, and then replicate without the extra gigabytes of baggage. And then I shall install my favourite #compiler EVAR, #MIPSPro, which I affectionately call a complier, not a compiler, because it really led the field in whining about bad non-standard C.
Radial Engineering SGI (Studio Guitar Interface) is a professional audio device used by guitarists and bass players to transmit audio sound long distance using Ethernet.
La SGI Fuel no era una PC común: era una estación de trabajo UNIX pensada para gráficos 3D, medios, ingeniería y usuarios técnicos. Con procesadores MIPS R14000A/R16000A, gráficos V12 y sistema IRIX 6.5, representó el poder visual de Silicon Graphics en formato escritorio.
