🌟2️⃣🌟 mountains.social 🌟2️⃣🌟

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of mountains.social. 731 days ago I opened the instance for registration.

As a fan of mountain huts, I thought we celebrate with a hut at an elevation of 2'731 meters: the Segantini hut in Graubünden, Switzerland.

We can also celebrate with the 2'731 meters high Sunnig Berg (second picture at the left) in the Urner Alps, Switzerland.

Or what about the 2'731 meters high Thousand Lake Mountain in Wayne County, Utah, USA.

Where-ever you are though, regardless of elevation, thanks for being here!

(jh) Nach 70 Jahren ist Giovanni Segantinis Meisterwerk "Herbstsonne" wieder in Arco, der italienischen Partnerstadt von Bogen (Landkreis Straubing-Bogen) am Gardasee zu sehen. Es gilt als ein Meisterwerk des Künstlers Segantinis, der in Arco geboren wurden und inzwischen von seiner Geburtsstadt besonders gewürdigt wird. #Segantini #museum in #StMoritz is quite nice — except for the interpretations of his pictures provided by the audio guide, those are occasionally weird.

Segantini painted this view of a pine tree in the Swiss Alps with his distinctive combination of brilliant colors applied in small, broken strokes. Rather than a direct transcription of nature, the extreme close-up view and the flat, decorative space are designed to arouse an emotional response. Finding spiritual consolation in the lush forests and clear light around his home in the Alps, Segantini wrote: “I am now working passionately to wrest the secret of Nature’s spirit from her. Nature utters the eternal word to the artist: love, love; and the earth sings life in spring, and the soul of things reawakens.”
