Third day of our take on the Kaisertour was really chill. After a diverting hike up to the Stripsenkopf it was a steep descent to reach the Anton-Karg-Haus.
Two foxes visited us while we were having dinner there (see photos 9 and 10).

On day 2 we hiked from Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte to Stripsenjochhaus. Because the chances for experiencing a thunderstorm in the early afternoon were relatively high, we sadly decided against taking the panoramic (and much longer!) route traversing several peaks and took the direct one instead. Nevertheless a nice day!

During this year's General Assembly meeting of the SAC Sektion Niesen  the hut warden couple of the Almagellerhütte (which belongs to the Sektion) were celebrated. They have been the wardens for 40 years! Their son is taking over now, so it stays in the family.

Found a nice video by the son about being a warden of the hut (in Walliser German but with English subs).

In August 2024 I went for a short hut trekking tour planned a week in advance. Together with some friends I travelled to Kufstein by train where we took the bus to a small village called Ebbs. After waiting for roughly two hours in a café (thunder and heavy rain upon arrival) we started around half past three in the afternoon towards the Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte.

Haven't posted in a while - life happened.

Final day of the Lechquellenrunde and we jumped at the chance for another summit ascent. From Biberacher Hütte we hiked up to the Hochkünzelspitze before descending down into the valley and ending another multi-day hut trekking tour.

Was on the site of SAC Sektion Niesen  to register for the upcoming General Assembly and reread a bit on the history of the Sektion.

One of the two huts that the Sektion runs is the Almagellerhütte (built in 1984) and it has been too long since I have been there.

Day 5 of the Lechquellenrunde and actually the first time we could hike our way as planned.
The weather was kinda bad so we had a longer stopover at Obere Alpeschellen to escape the upcoming thunderstorm.
That was a nice possibility to become acquainted with some fellow hikers on the same route.
I'm going to post a short clip of the stopover in the comments (probably from my Mastodon account).

After a good nights sleep at Freiburger Hütte we were ready to start day 4 of the Lechquellenrunde and - how could it be any different? - we've been advised to take the safer route again. So instead of going past Schönbühel and Östlicher Johanneskopf as planned we went back "the boring way" into Lech valley, stopped for a snack at Gasthaus Älpele before ascending towards the Göppinger Hütte. In the end we got really wet but had a decent timing as we reached the hut right about it started to thunder.

On day 3 we've been cautious again and did not took the route via Gehrengrat towards the next hut. Instead we got past the Spullersee, descended back into the Lech valley and hiked along the Lech (this segment was part of another long-distance hiking trail - the Lechweg) until we reached the Formarinsee.
Upon arriving at the lake, we settled for the white-blue-white marked route on the eastern side towards the Freiburger Hütte. I got lucky here as about halfway along the lake a maybe fist-sized stone came crashing down from above a few metres behind me.
