for those that enjoyed #SecureScuttlebutt in the past, you might be happy to hear that I forked Patchwork and made it compile with a recent stack and added a bunch of features.

I am shipping binaries for macOS, Linux, Windows for both amd64 and arm64. The macOS binaries are signed.

You can get the releases from:

https://github.com/soapdog/patchwork/releases/

I wrote a bit about the journey so far in a couple blog posts:

A decentralized messaging and sharing app built on top of Secure Scuttlebutt (SSB). - soapdog/patchwork

I bet it would be really cool if somebody modified the Heltec #meshtastic firmware so that it's broadcast in ad hoc open Wi-Fi connection with a dead drop public dashboard. Or even a #SecureScuttleButt node #ssb

made six releases of Poncho Wonky #SecureScuttlebutt client in 41 days adding loads of features and fixes:

That is what happens when #FOSS developers get small #grants :3

Help fund FOSS plz.

I hate notarization on #macOS #development so much. Just ready to push an update to my #SecureScuttlebutt client, got the github action building the app for all platforms just to fail on macOS cause Apple changed a license agreement so the CI was failing 403 until I went to their developer portal to agree.

I'm shipping FOSS apps, going through this hops is so absurd.

Poncho Wonky can now remote drive SSB servers. You can import an identity and then set a remote for it. Instead of running it locally by starting a background process when you run it, it will instead just start the client process and connect to it.

That brings Poncho Wonky to parity with Patchfox in terms of identity management.

It only took like five years :3

#SecureScuttlebutt #Decentralization

Am so happy. Today, I succeeded in two important tasks for my Poncho Wonky fork of the #SecureScuttlebutt client Patchwork.

Today, I managed to import an identity from a secret's file (as in keys) and also from a word export (as in list of word mnemonics)

So now Poncho Wonky can restore old identities people had in other devices including moving Manyverse identities into Poncho Wonky.

Maybe it is time to upgrade from patchwork to something else?

Recommendations?

options look to be Tilde friends and Patch wonky

pwease!
and check out the newest version of Patchwork: Poncho Wonky

Just added a tool to help free up disk space used by blobs in Poncho Wonky.

#SecureScuttlebutt keeps moving forward regardless of naysayers.

If you're running Patchwork, you should consider migrating to my fork Poncho Wonky.
