Sea snakes may have evolved to see colors again

A new paper in Genome Biology and Evolution finds that the annulated sea snake, a species of venomous snake found in ocean waters around Australia and Asia, appears to have evolved to see an extended palette of colors after its ancestors lost that ability in response to changing environments.

Just listened to episode 169 of Common Descent podcast. It is about sea snakes. Covers modern sea snakes like Hydrophiinae, Acrochordidae (file snakes), and Laticaudinae (the semi-aquatic sea kraits), as well as numerous extinct (likely independently evolved) sea snakes of the Paleogene, and the Late Cretaceous.
