“Suddenly, he seemed to be in another world.” #roadsidepicnic #scifimonth

As if November didn't have enough reading events on the go, I discovered at a late stage that it was also Sci Fi Month!! #ScifiMonth Mission Log: one

We promised a casual ScifiMonth this year, but that doesn’t mean we’re not monitoring comms and standing by to boost the signal. Lisa and I will be doing 2 logs this month: today, we&#8…

Book Quote Wednesday's word is 'girl' #BookQW
Faced with threats and bluster, Prisoner 74 will not be bowed, and Gaspard Atarex can only admire in silence. "Girl" can be a terrible insult.

This year's #ScifiMonth read-along is Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie. I'm excited to revisit the Imperial Radch - this week, we're discussing the first 6 chapters

Ancillary Justice: week one

This year, we’re returning to Ann Leckie’s much-awarded debut for our ScifiMonth read-along. The Justice of Toren is a Radchaai troop carrier, bringing her cargo of ancillaries – …

It's all about travelling in this week's #ScifiMonth Friday Five - and not getting where we're going, in my picks. I've picked five favourite books where the destination is just an excuse for a damn good personal journey.

The journey not the destination

Is it Friday already? Awesome, that’s day when your ScifiMonth co-captains throw a theme out into the universe and see what top fives our crew come back with. We’re kicking off this yea…

Happy Hallowe'en - time for the traditional month-end reading round up as I say farewell #SpooktasticReads and prepare for #ScifiMonth!

Redux: spooky season

My October plans were disrupted by high winds (thanks Amy) and a work trip to London for my company’s tenth birthday celebration. I’ve spent most of the month being surprised it’s…

It's October, which means it's only 30 more days until #ScifiMonth! Yes, our annual love-in of all things SFnal will be back - we're disorganised and may forget to pack our socks, but we're excited to blast off on November 1. Will you join us?

Get ready for ScifiMonth 2025

We’re a little later than usual in pulling the dust covers off the good ship ScifiMonth, but there’s no keeping a good crew grounded! We’ll be back this November for our annual ce…
