Australian bee glue delivers a scar-fighting compound that shuts down raised scars before they take hold

A natural compound made by Australian bees to seal their hives may help stop scarring in human skin after surgery, injury and burns, according to University of the Sunshine Coast researchers. The scientists say the laboratory finding has "immense potential" for future applications in people with scarring ranging from shallow and cosmetic to deep and debilitating, known as hypertrophic.

Gibt es iwas, das man besonders beachten sollte, wenn man sich die Phrase 'Fickt euch!' als #scarring in die #Fingerabdrücke integrieren möchte?

Right before my mastectomy they injected me with a radioactive tracer to see if the cancer had gotten to any lymph nodes, for what they called a Sentinel biopsy. My sentinel node had cancer, so they ripped out a couple of tier's worth of nodes in my armpit and told me I should never have venipuncture or blood pressure - or tattoos - on that side. (Edit to add: none of the other nodes had cancer.)

But after 13 years I asked for a new ruling. Since I hadn't had the problems we were worried about, was it necessary to maintain those prohibitions? I was honest that my true motivation in asking was that I wanted to have the arm available for tattoos.

I was told that current wisdom is that tattoos are low risk for anyone and that all risk drops off almost entirely after a few years.

So I got 3 tattoos last week (pix when they're healed up). All of which I'd wanted for a long time but hadn't been able to decide where to put them. I wanted them visible to myself and others, at least in a tank top. So I got the green light and did it!

I think I'll save my good vein for the ER because I'm usually there because I've puked myself into dehydration and both the ER folks and myself would appreciate having a vein with hardly any scar tissue (very unlike the other arm). The phlebotomists can use the bad arm when I'm hydrated.
