Oggi, 14 giugno, torna la Giornata Mondiale del Donatore di Sangue, un appuntamento che ogni anno ricorda quanto un gesto semplice possa trasformarsi in un dono prezioso per migliaia di persone.

L‘edizione 2026 porta con sé un nuovo messaggio lanciato dall’Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità:

One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.

(Una goccia di umanità. Dona sangue. Salva vite.)

Il tema mette al centro il valore umano della donazione, ricordando che dietro ogni sacca di sangue c’è un atto concreto di solidarietà e speranza.

Tra le novità più importanti di quest’anno c’è anche il ruolo dell’Italia come Paese ospitante dell’evento mondiale, con iniziative e celebrazioni internazionali previste a Roma per sensibilizzare cittadini e istituzioni sull’importanza delle donazioni periodiche. Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (WHO)

La ricorrenza continua inoltre a richiamare l’attenzione sulla necessità di aumentare il numero dei donatori volontari, soprattutto tra i giovani. Secondo l’OMS, una partecipazione più ampia della popolazione è fondamentale per garantire scorte di sangue sicure e sufficienti per interventi chirurgici, emergenze, cure oncologiche e assistenza materna.

In questa giornata il ringraziamento va a tutti coloro che, con pochi minuti del loro tempo, regalano una possibilità in più a chi sta affrontando una battaglia per la vita. Perché, davvero, una sola goccia può fare la differenza.

May is stroke awareness month here in the UK, I've given a very triggering presentation on strokes to my colleagues this morning to help people recognise the symptoms after having a stroke myself last November. I was one of the lucky third of people to have a stroke to survive without lasting impacts and I'm so so grateful for that.
