Spotted some #MonarchButterflies today at the nursery, enjoying some ‘Honeycomb’ butterfly bush. #SaveTheMonarchs #SaveTheButterflies
This is the best way we could think of to wish a “Happy Hallow’s Eve” to every trick-r-treater & pollinator! (ProTip: now is a great time to plant milkweed for next spring! ). #savethemonarchs #halloweentreats #happyhalloween #conservation #monarchs #milkweed #coldstratification

Definitely an interesting read as a monarch lover. Probably more science to be done, but also some strong correlation with commercial monarch breeding operations. A good warning for all of us.

CW: in addition to discussing monarchs, this post extensively discusses parasites and their spread in the monarch population.

Monarchs have a growing parasite problem, and it's not from natural causes

Hello everyone,This might be the most sobering blog post I've ever written about monarchs, and so I hope you pay close attention. I also hope that after reading this, you share it with every single person you know who cares a whit about monarchs, because this information should be shouted from the rooftops. Today I'm going to talk about a brand new study that is a game-changer for the world of monarch conservation. And, once I explain this paper to you, I guarantee it will change your entire vie

@hennige @Doreen32128 Yup, no milkweed no Monarchs. Good luck! #SaveTheMonarchs

Since milkweed requires cold stratification, the new year is a great time to sow some milkweed seeds for your native pollinators and monarchs!

Terrific weekend in the garden. Corn and squash performing well. Hosting a monarch butterfly caterpillar. Ended the day with a Kentucky Mule. #gardening #savethemonarchs #cocktails

ooh. For those on the far west side, there's a native milkweed giveaway on Saturday in Camarillo.

Usually by this time of year this milkweed has been absolutely demolished by dozens of monarch caterpillars. This year I've only seen a single butterfly and this caterpillar. There must be more I'm not seeing but so far this year the weather seems to be in favour of the plant and not the insect.

My client for the large raingarden project I did in Granada Hills posted a video of some of it including all the milkweed he's growing there.
