Il Tempo: Periferie, giovane di Ostia: "Ragazzi del quartiere chiedono di essere ascoltati"

Roma, 21 mag. - (Adnkronos) - “Sono salita su questo palco ed ero molto agitata, però è stato bello perché finalmente ho detto le cose che tutti i ragazzi di Ostia, o la maggior parte, pensano”. Lo ha detto Olivia Monti, giovane di Ostia intervenuta per portare una testimonianza dal suo quartiere, all'apertura di Impossibile 2026, la biennale dedicata ai diritti dell'infanzia e dell'adolescenza promossa da Save the Children all'Acquario Romano di Roma sul tema 'Investire nelle periferie, investire nell'infanzia'.
“La mia presenza oggi è stata importante perché finalmente la mia voce e anche tutte le voci dei ragazzi che hanno partecipato a questo progetto sono state ascoltate”, ha aggiunto. Olivia Monti ha raccontato le difficoltà vissute nei quartieri periferici. “Le persone che vivono in periferia purtroppo stanno indietro, viviamo con un po' di difficoltà per raggiungere le persone che stanno al centro”, ha spiegato. Secondo la giovane intervenuta all'evento, proprio queste condizioni contribuiscono però a rafforzare i ragazzi che crescono nelle periferie. “È questo che ci rende più forti, perché la periferia è dura ma ti insegna, ti insegna a cavartela”, ha affermato. Olivia ha infine definito “molto bella” l'esperienza vissuta nel percorso promosso da Save the Children e culminato con l'intervento sul palco della biennale dedicata ai diritti dell'infanzia e dell'adolescenza.

Peripheries, a young man from Ostia: "The neighborhood kids are asking to be heard."

Rome, May 21 – (Adnkronos) – “I climbed onto this stage and I was very nervous, but it was nice because finally I was able to say the things that all the guys from Ostia, or most of them, think.” This was said by Olivia Monti, a young woman from Ostia who intervened to give a testimony from her neighborhood, at the opening of Impossibile 2026, the biennial dedicated to the rights of children and adolescents promoted by Save the Children at the Roman Aquarium in Rome on the theme 'Investing in the Periphery, Investing in Childhood'.

“My presence today was important because finally my voice and also the voices of all the young people who participated in this project were heard,” she added. Olivia Monti recounted the difficulties experienced in the peripheral neighborhoods. “People who live in the periphery unfortunately are behind, we live with some difficulty reaching those who are in the center,” she explained. According to the young woman who spoke at the event, these conditions actually contribute to strengthening the young people who grow up in the periphery. “That’s what makes us stronger, because the periphery is tough but it teaches you, it teaches you how to get by,” she stated. Olivia finally described the experience as “very beautiful” of the journey promoted by Save the Children and culminating with her speech on the stage of the biennial dedicated to the rights of children and adolescents.
