Took a break in Chester from my #SailRail trip to Brussels from Dublin to see Minerva's Shrine, Goddess of wisdom, justice, law and victory, carved into the face of a sandstone quarry in a local park.

Dating from 200AD, and a twenty minute walk from Chester rail station. Stunning.

First time as a foot passenger on Irish Ferries from Dublin and I really like that you walk on board from their terminal rather than being bussed on with Stena

@cyclotopie yes I regularly travel from the West coast of Ireland to Yorkshire overland. It takes longer alright but like you I prefer it to flying #sailrail

Heading home to Dublin from Brussels by train and ferry, via London and Wales.

Trains and ferries may take longer than flying, but for legroom and lack of stress, they get my vote.

Just coming to the end of a trip by bike train and ferry from Limerick to Bordeaux. 36 hours since leaving home I am nearly there. Included in that 1000 +kms of travel is 15 km from Cork Station to Ringaskiddy and 30kms from Roscoff to Morlaix Station. It wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea and it's certainly not cheap but it feels right.... #slowtravel #carboncredits #SailRail #interrail

In #SailRail news, I attempted to fly from London City Airport to Dublin tonight and the plane was struck by lightning mid-air and had to turn round. I am now stranded in London overnight. Would not happen on the Ulysses, let me tell you :)

Got up early and excited to be travelling to Dublin from London by train and ferry (with integrated ticketing). My excitement has quickly evaporated. #SailRail? More like #FailRail

What is “standby” about the #sailrail standby tickets? Can you be bumped off the ferry or can you be sure of getting on?

I have to go to Cheltenham for work next week (from Dublin). Even though it's much closer to Holyhead than London is, #SailRail takes longer to get there than to London. It would be really nice if our friends in the UK invested a bit more in their rail network to make these sorts of journeys possible over land.

OK here we go #SailRail again. Compared to the expensive misery of Dublin Airport, the check-in and boarding process for Irish Ferries is a lot more human scale. In the lounge this time, so hopefully will be able to work a bit (after a short snooze)
